🤠STORY SUMMARY🤠

Denver Toland is the sherrif of a small prairie town called Aurora Trail. In the midst of a string of killings in the surrounding towns, he's been on high alert to keep his people safe.

The killer only targets married men, leaving a trail of widows in his path, gaining him the moniker "The Bachelor". No one's ever seen him, only the hawk feather he leaves behind on the bodies.

When The Bachelor finally strikes one of his own, Denver is bound and determined to finally track him down and bring him to justice, no matter what. But The Bachelor may not be exactly what he seems.....

📚ABOUT📚

This little novella is a work of love from my queer trans nonbinary neurodiverse self, who grew up watching westerns with my dad. I love westerns, but I wanted to write something that people like me could see themselves in, and that put women, queer people, non-white people, and neurodiverse folks in a kinder light than they're usually presented in traditional western media. I do still use some less-than-ideal terms in here (namely Native Americans being "natives") to keep some of the genre immersion, but I'm using them in lieu of much worse terms that would have actually been thrown around at the time, and I just wanted to give you a heads up about that so you can opt out if that's a dealbreaker for you.

Okay, now that you've been warned, here's a little about the themes, and why this book (and the books that will follow it) are very gay and very feminist.

So, the titular Bachelor is actually a woman who killed her abusive husband in self-defence, and has gone on to be a vigilante, murdering abusive husbands around the county. She disguises herself as a man to be "taken more seriously", because sadly that is the social climate, but also because she's actually pretty gender non-conforming, and uses she/he pronouns. 

All of the women who "never saw him" were actually in cahoots the whole time, and there's a well-known (to the women) support network for abused wives and girlfriends who routinely tip the Bachelor off. A lot of them are also VERY in love with him. 

That part is much more addressed in the second book, which I've been struggling to finish writing for literal years, and I post this on itch in the hope that it'll light a fire under my ass to finish it. So...
